The trustworthy Sikaflex even came to spawn a pop- ular catchphrase that would be used by generations of RV line workers: "If there's a leak, put more Sika on it!" So perhaps it's no surprise that, for more than a generation, Sikaflex has been Sika's leading product to the RV industry. By some estimates, Sikaflex is used in the manufacturing process on some 70 percent of all RVs and is considered the No. 1 window-glazing product serving the industry, according to Bill Buraczewski, RV business development manager for Sika Corp. That kind of market penetration is an enviable position for any OEM supplier, but Sika is not content to rest on its laurels. Instead, the company is actively looking to greatly expand its offerings for the RV market, some of which it debuted for repre- sentatives for RV makers in late June at the company's "Driving Technologies Event" at the Northern Indiana Event Center in Elkhart, Ind. Nearly 100 industry types – from engineers and interior designers to purchasing agents and production man- agers – attended that event. The OEM adhesives provider is looking to expand its footprint in a big way with new products, many of them leveraged from other industries the company serves. By Steve Bibler Sika Bonds with RV Industry Martin Henricks with Sika sales (in yellow shirt) is shown explaining the many benefits of Sika's direct glazing adhesives. Sika already provides a number of adhesive products to the RV market but is none-the- less seeking to significantly expand its offerings. PHOTOS BY STEVE TOEPP/ HILLIARD PHOTO COURTESY OF SIKA
