Thanks to his experience with a co m - pany making hangers in Asia, Ca marota felt I T C could be a global resource for other west Michigan businesses looking for products manufactured in a value- oriented structure without sacrificing quality or ti ming. An early e mphasis on lighting prod - ucts and the develop ment of light-e mit- ting diode (LE D) technology has helped the co mpany gro w and evolve into sup- plying a gro wing nu mber of different industries with LE D lighting and electric technology products. One of the earliest was the R V industry, and fro m its dedicated facility in Elkhart, Ind., I T C has gro wn to be a well-kno wn supplier to both OE Ms and the after market. Ahead of the Curve It's probably not surprising that Richard Ca marota's role as CE O focuses mainly on I T C's strategic direction. As his son, Michael Ca marota, the co m- pany's president says, "I think I T C has al ways looked at the market in a way that's a little bit ahead of most people – and that continues today." Ho wever, the senior Ca marota began with what he kne w. His son says before his foray in the hanger business, he had worked in the marine industry, and that's where he directed so me of his early efforts. In much the sa me way, he was acquainted with people in the van conversion business.
