S T A R T H E R E 2 0 1 8 D eveloped a little over 30 years ago, laser engraving systems took the world market by storm. The appli- cations and markets for laser engraving continue to grow at a rapid pace. What makes the laser processing market so hot are the many opportunities that exist. Industrial, decorative, and personalized products are just a few of the segments that laser engraving fits. While all of these market segments are unique, they share the same concept of creating different, custom- ized products. It is the laser engraving system's ability to create these products quickly and cleanly that makes this technology such a work- horse. Using standard graphic layout soft- ware is where the process begins. Simply type in text and add graphics to create the laser engraving layout. The user-friendly printing interface prints the layout to the laser along with engraving parameters. Position the item to be customized in the bed of the laser system and press Run to start the transformation. It is this simple create-then-print process that makes it easy and cost effective to produce low-volume custom products profitably.
