The 6' logo and larger text were made with two layers, black acrylic underneath with an overlay of .040 brushed aluminum. Here the acrylic cutout still has protective craft paper on it and the brushed aluminum parts are ready to be bonded to the acrylic. Small pieces of double sided tape were used to adhere the aluminum to the acrylic, and care must be used since the adhesive really works and grabs quickly. Temporary spacers made from strips of scrap release liner were used to facilitate aligning the silver alumi- num over the black acrylic perfectly and preventing the layers sticking together prematurely. Once the top layer was exactly aligned in place, the spacer strips were slid out of the way. This method of working with spacers was really important for making the large parts fit exactly right the first time. Our laser will cut acrylic sheets as large as 24" x 39", and is excellent at cutting acrylic letters of various sizes.
