rv-pro.com November 2018 • RV PRO • 105 Above: A military color guard leads the way as the VetsRoll caravan passes under a huge American flag on the way to Washington, D.C. VetsRoll charter commercial aircraft for one-day, roundtrip flights to fly WWII veterans to Washington, D.C., at no cost to the veterans, Finnegan got to thinking about doing something similar by RV. Finnegan and his brother, John, came to recognize the value of doing an RV convoy after considering how strenuous the long 18- to 20-hour days an Honor Flight might be on WWII veterans. (Editor's note: In 2010, the average age of WWII veterans was in the early to mid-80s; today, the average age of those same veterans is in the early 90s, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.) A veteran holds a folded flag during the group's trip to Washington, D.C. The trips are undertaken as a memorial to Mark Finnegan's parents, Cy and Barbara Finnegan, who served their country during World War II. PHOTOS COURTESY OF VETSROLL/ FINNEGAN'S RV CENTER
