It is one of the RV manufacturer's original fifth wheels and the company has historically enjoyed good success with the product, which was a premier brand. However, in more recent times the fifth wheel lost a bit of its luster and its focus, acknowledges Michael A. Terlep, Cardinal general manager. So, "our focus coming into Expo was getting back to the basics of what made Cardinal very successful," he says. One of the ways Cardinal sought to do that was to bring back one of its top floorplans from "back in the day" – a rear kitchen layout in the form of the 3750 BKX in Cardinal's Luxury Series. It's one of seven new or revised floorplans in the Luxury Series (six new or revised in the Limited Series) and exemplifies Cardinal's concerted effort to sharpen its focus on the meat of the market. Terlep says he expects Cardinal's fortunes to improve moving forward with more aggressively priced and featured floorplans like the 3750 BKX, which features "a huge kitchen with lots of countertop space. It has that 'pop' when you walk in, especially with a lot of the modern colors and fixtures we've added." The Luxury Series floorplan features include linoleum throughout (no carpet anywhere); buffet dinettes; large enter- tainment centers; Whisper Quiet air conditioners and an energy management system that gives the ability to install as many as three air conditioners; USB ports throughout the coach; Denver mattresses; MORryde suspension; frameless windows; and dual awnings on almost all floorplans. All new Cardinal products will be prepped for Wi-Fi Con- necT 2.0 and Winegard's 4G LTE cellular. The new ConnecT 2.0 is an integrated system that works together for faster speeds and increased range from Wi-Fi sources. It keeps mobile devices, media players and computers connected to Wi-Fi with a reliable connection and expanded coverage. The ConnecT 2.0 4G2 links to nationwide 4G LTE for reliable, uninterrupted, in-motion and stationary coverage while traveling. These options may be installed at the factory as original equipment. "Overall customer feedback (to the new floorplans) has been overwhelmingly strong," Terlep says. "There has been a lot of dealer interest. ... I've only been at Cardinal for a year, but a lot of the salespeople are telling me, 'Wow! I've never seen a response like this to Cardinal.'" Terlep says Cardinal's two product segments are now located in key price points: the Limited falls in the heart of the $50,000 to $55,000 range, while the Luxury falls in the $60,000 to $65,000 range. What impressed RV PRO: Cardinal seems to have found its mojo again with the 3750 BKX: the rear kitchen area is well-designed and nicely equipped. Additionally, the available tech in this fifth wheel rivals just about anything else in its weight class. The Cardinal 3750 BKX returns the product to its roots as a premier product, thanks in part to its large kitchen area featuring many quality fixtures and a modern color scheme.
