JANUARY 2019 THE SHOP 27 $10,000—a challenge that was unfathom- able with the old JK. If the SEMA Show was any indication, however, the JL has found its groove as an aftermarket favorite, with the products coming fast and furious. And, as more and more models hit the streets—just like back with the JK—your customers will want to create their own version that stands out from the crowd. PRIME EXAMPLE We teamed up with a local car dealer in Columbus, Ohio named Performance CJD West, which is well-known for offering upfitted Jeeps. The dealership understands what consumers want and where the sweet spot is on pricing. Our project with Performance CJD West included accessories from Omix-ADA/ Rugged Ridge, which is part of the Truck Hero family. The goal was to take a 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JL Sahara and turn it from a highly liked vehicle into a coveted, can't-live-without show-stopper. We started with a lift, 20-inch wheels and 35-inch tires, then looked to many of the little add-ons that Jeep lovers crave, including: a front bumper with winch, hood latches, interior upgrades and a cool third brake light integrated into the spare tire carrier. The goal was to increase visibility and desirability, while keeping the upgrade costs in check. Now that we're finished, Performance CJD West is promoting the Jeep on social media and other marketing outlets to find its new owner and bring increased atten- tion to the dealership. For me, it's a perfect example of the excitement that can be gen- erated when a new model is introduced and really catches the attention of consumers. If you were one of those shops that was unsure about the introduction of the new Wrangler, take heart! Once again, we're learning that change can be good. JOSH POULSON is the principal of Auto Additions in Columbus, Ohio, which was named Restyler of the Year, 2012-'13. Auto Addi- tions offers a complete line of product upgrades, including 12-volt and appearance pack- ages with a specific focus on the dealership segment. Josh currently serves on the SEMA PRO council and was named 2015-'16 Person of the Year at the 2015 SEMA Show. 600+ TRUCK AND JEEP ACCESSORIES AVAILABLE WITH UPDATED DATA AVAILABLE THROUGH SEMA DATA CO-OP & DCI
