Sheetz started as a gas station that doubled as a convenience store. Then, they began to specialize in made-to-order sandwiches, subs, hot dogs, brats, salads, and more. Now, Sheetz has opened restaurant spaces on busy college campuses just for their food offerings. And if you think gas station food can't possibly be that good, you'll get into some heated debates with folks who are known as Sheetz Freaks. Whether the food is the absolute best isn't really the point or the main catalyst of Sheetz's success. What has driven the rabid support of almost every Sheetz Freak is the ability to walk into a space, customize every part of their food order, and walk out with exactly what they ordered in less than seven minutes. How can we, as decorators in the on-demand or made-to-order space, realize similar suc- cess? The answer lies with an underappreciated heat print technology called screen-print transfers. SCREENING Screen-print transfers are the heat pressing professional's secret weapon when it comes to producing large volumes of custom or- ders in a short amount of time, all while providing some important benefits of a much larger screen print operation. A screen-print transfer is created using vector artwork. A transfer manufacturer will take your artwork, create a screen (or screens, depending on the number of col- ors in your design), screen print the design in mirror image to a piece of special release Screen It The advantage of screen-printed transfers HEAT-PRESS HEAT-PRESS HEAT-PRESS Pressing Matters J o s h & Z a c h E l l s w o r t h Screen-printed transfers make it easy to do large quantities of personalized designs.
