40 a-e-mag.com • A&E FEBRUARY 2019 Now just about anyone has the ability to sublimate with these innovative markers. If someone has a household iron and plain paper, they can sublimate on specially coated sub- strates such as wood, acrylic, and even ceramic. Users could buy some 100 percent polyester fabric from places like JoAnn or Hancock to start the process and watch how these markers can make something ordinary come alive. Why is this a game changer in the industry? For someone that can draw, they can create a masterpiece on plain paper and then heat press it with an iron to whatever polyester fabric or polymer-coated substrate they prefer. But even those folks that wouldn't be classified as artists can still have hours of enjoyment drawing and watching what can be done with these markers. Once they see what can be done with sublimation, they will inevitably consider adding a sublima- tion printer and heat press. For example, check out the illustration on the top of page 41. It is pressed on a piece of 100 percent polyester fabric. The illustration was done by Amy O'Hanlon. Or check out the illustration on the top of page 42, also drawn by O'Hanlon. You can see it before it is pressed on the notebook as well as after. BE CREATIVE AND HAVE FUN Drawing with markers offers almost instant gratification.
