AUGUST 2018 THE SHOP 43 currently do not (most likely due to an understandable liability issue), the tradi- tional alert systems we are installing work very well. To be able to warn drivers even a split-second earlier to look up could be the difference between life and death. We have sampled many different prod- ucts and manufacturers, and continue to work primarily with Brandmotion, as the company seems to be in tune with what these products need to accomplish. When we look at this category, we don't concern ourselves with the cost of the unit—the more important questions are: does it work well and does it work every time? EVERYONE WINS Our industry has a huge opportunity to offer these important need products and directly help save lives. When we talk about fleet customers, this can be anything from a national fleet with 800 trucks on the road, to the local electrician with three vans. It is terribly important not to discount a fleet customer as too small—even one accident avoided is well worth it. Auto Action has also been working with various insurance companies in an effort to be able to present an insurance savings when purchasing some of these products. Insurance companies are tricky, as the underwriters want to see loss runs over time before they will agree to a discount, but please know that this is in the works and will be shared once we can pin down concrete savings. Vision Zero Automotive Network hopes to be able to create the awareness needed to get more and more fleet customers asking where they can have these safety products installed by authorized installers. Feel free to contact me (jcohen@autoac- tiongroup.com) to learn more about the movement and how you can get involved today.
