"But I love the people who run the big dealers around here. They send us service work, as do the manufacturers who know that the larger dealerships generally don't have the extra capacity to help (the manufacturers') customers." Anklin's current staff of 12 keeps busy as a go-to service location for manufacturers like Jayco and Forest River, which sends warranty work to Drew's RV Techs, while the team also sells new units from brands including Lance, Shasta, Forest River, Travel Lite and Gulf Stream. "The brands we carry are almost as important as the quality of our staff – they both contribute to building trust with our cus- tomers," says Anklin. "Take Gulf Stream, for example. They're a family-owned company and they scaled back a bit recently to build things properly and ensure that everything they're doing is quality and that they are doing right by their customers. That matters to me and to our staff. Regarding staff, Anklin notes that his philosophy on staff retention is pretty straightforward: "Pay them what they're worth and give them enough money to survive in the community that you're doing business in. Treat them honestly. It's pretty simple." The Future is Bright There's a shared sense of excitement about what's coming down the road as Anklin and the team at Drew's RV Techs, including Anklin's wife, June, and the company's trusted gen- eral manager, Savannah Sorgenfrei, continues to hustle its way creatively into the future.
