rv-pro.com April 2019 • RV PRO • 35 New Connection Notably, iN.Command is a product just for the RV market. ASA Electronics and Chevrolet have used iN.Command as the basis for a new smart trailer integration to bring RV control and monitoring to the driver's seat of the 2020 Silverado HD. The Silverado HD is the largest and most-powerful vehicle in the Silverado line, and access to select iN.Command Control Systems will be available through the myChevrolet mobile App, which will be accessible through compatible Android and iOS smartphones, or on the vehicle's infortainment system through phone projection, according to Hess. "General Motors reached out to us about eight months ago," he says. "There are a lot of systems on the market today, but ours really stood out to them." As with iN.Command for RVs, the Chevy version will allow owners to monitor and control a range of functions on the trailers they're towing, including tank levels, HVAC controls and motor- ized slide-outs. "The smart trailering approach really takes things to the next level," Hess says. "They saw ASA Electronics as the conduit between the truck and the trailer to make that happen, and it required a lot of work and invest- ment and resources between our engineering group and GM's engineering department to make sure it happened." He says that the presence of ASA Electronics and the iN.Command system in Chevy's products has drawn praise from those covering the automotive industry. Notably, ASA Electronics has been in the automotive industry since the late 1970s, when it began as a supplier to the van conversion industry. "It's been a nice benefit for both companies to be able to start a partnership," Hess Jim Hess, vice president of the RV division of ASA Electronics, says RV remote control systems have officially gone mainstream. "It's the addition of Global Connect and its capabilities that has really propelled iN.Command to the next level," he says.
