rv-pro.com April 2019 • RV PRO • 51 show in Oklahoma City and it's in its 50th year. We like that it's an RV-only show. There are no boats or other high-ticket items on offer to take attention away from our products or cut into our sales. "What is different this year is that we took the largest space we have ever taken. We had 39,000 square feet and showed 61 units. This was an addition of 10,000 square feet over last year. "This seems to have been one of the busiest shows we have had in a very long time, with great traffic every day. Part of that is because the weather has not been great and people are ready to get out. It's a fun event to attend and I think people wait for this show because it's an RV-only show." Jacob Stramba, general manager Camping World of Pittsburgh Pittsburgh, Pa. "Our dealership only attends the Pittsburgh RV Show, which we go to every year. However, our company (Camping World) has had inventory at every major show in the country year-to- date. As competitive as the industry is today, with so many new campers getting into the lifestyle, it's imperative that we get our brand out in front of as many customers as possible. "This year's show was nine days and we took the middle nine rows, about 250,000 square feet overall, just the same as last year. We brought 75 units and our all-in cost was upward of $100,000. "As for attendance, the weather has wreaked havoc on atten- dance all across the northern part of the country this year and the first weekend was down 4,500 attendees versus the prior year. Even though attendance was down, we experienced a huge increase in unit sales. There are so many people adopting this form of R&R into their lives that I'm sure as long as the economy stays strong, RV unit sales will continue to increase. "In terms of who is buying, we are seeing a lot of folks a few years away from retirement choosing to take advantage of the cost savings now over waiting 'til retirement. Just based on unit cost inflation, along with potential of rising interest rates, you can really put yourself in a position to save $20,000, $30,000 or even $40,000 in just interest. "I think the word is out. There's no better day than today to buy an RV!" WFCO Keeps the Lights On. We power up your aftermarket sales, too!
