54 THE SHOP MAY 2019 I travel quite a few miles during the DIESEL Motorsports season, but it's not all about the events. I also love to see how different diesel shops and manufacturers run their businesses in all parts of the country. Owners and managers have been extremely gracious hosting me at their facilities, showing me how each business runs and who does what at the shops. People are the same in all parts of the country—they are just trying to make a living and get the bills paid. Beyond that, however, what I see is the passion each owner has for not only his or her customers and employees, but also the products and services they provide. The owners I've met love what they do. Isn't that everyone's dream—to work at a job they love? It is for many of us who put up with the many parts of the business that aren't so enjoyable in order to participate in the parts that are. In that spirit, I want to fea- ture a couple of places I had a chance to visit in the fall and winter that are great examples of businesses that are living the diesel dream. INFINITY DIESEL The first stop takes me to Sturgis, South Dakota during Bike Week where DIESEL Motorsports is now doing an event on Thursday and Friday evenings at the Sturgis Dragway. In a little town an exit before Sturgis lies Infinity Diesel, owned by Craig Baumiller in Summerset. Infinity Diesel has 15 bays in its 16,000-square-foot shop, plus a showroom up front for customers to view upgrade options for their diesel trucks. Baumiller has more than 10 employees who work year-round to make sure not only the locals' diesel trucks stay running, but also all of the visitors' trucks hauling RVs through the Black Hills. 54 THE SHOP MAY 2019 eam DIESEL LIVING THE Shops & manufacturers work to keep the industry strong. By Ron Knoch DIESEL Motorsports' 1996 Ram made it to Mount Rush- more in South Dakota. The DIESEL Motorsports travel truck in the Black Hills near Sturgis, South Dakota. Maybe we can come visit your business one day?
