rv-pro.com May 2019 • RV PRO • 23 "The feedback (at Open House Week) all centered around Durango as an epic value, and that's what we were going for," he says. "The bathroom has a 48-inch fiberglass shower with seat, his-and-hers double vanity, stainless-steel sinks and a linen closet. The kitchen features a chef 's kitchen, a spacious pantry, plenty of storage areas and an impressive island kitchen that makes the entire kitchen a chef 's dream." Other features include standard theater seating with heat and massage features, a 40-inch living room fireplace, washer/dryer prep, king-size bed and a two-year warranty. The dry weight of D333RLT is 10,700 pounds, with an MSRP of $67,853. Last fall, KZ debuted the all-new Durango Half-Ton, also designed for luxury fifth wheeling but with a smaller footprint and an MSRP starting in the low $45,000s. "The mid-profile Half-Ton is lightweight and compact, but also loaded with luxury standards at a very nice price point," Froman says. "All seven floorplans are under 12,000 pounds GVWR, for towing with almost any modern or late-model truck." The Half-Ton is equipped with a standard towing package that includes a 2-inch receiving hitch, a 4-pin wire harness, a 300-pound hitch rating and a 3,000-pound tow rating. RVers can extend the camping season with the standard climate package, which keeps tanks and pipes safely tucked away in the heated, insulated and enclosed underbelly. "All these upgrades really set Half-Ton apart – our competitors typically don't offer these features at this price point," Froman says. "The 5/8-inch tongue-and-groove plywood flooring construction is a step up from standard, and the partially-painted front cap is a high-end aesthetic." Interior upgrades include maple-glazed hardwood slide-out fascia, an under-mount stainless-steel kitchen sink and LED TV with multimedia stereo and DVD. All floorplans include an upgraded tri-fold hide-a-bed. Turning a Corner on Fivers Durango has upped its game in the fifth wheel market in the past year, according to Snyder. "(Historically), we always were conservative on the fifth wheel side," she concedes. She adds that Froman, who came on-board to lead the fifth wheel production in mid-2018, "had a huge hand in making the lineup relevant to today's consumers." Froman says, "The Durango brands weren't broken, I just felt that a unit built this well needed more eye appeal.
