8 THE SHOP JUNE 2019 SKETCHBOOK PROJECT VEHICLE 1957 FORD WAGON 'THE IMPOSTOR' Covercraft Industries brought a legendary vehicle back to the SEMA Show in 2018 when it hosted The Impostor, designed and built by Foose Design. A combination of a 1965 Chevrolet Impala and 2009 Chevrolet Corvette, The Impostor was the 2015 Ridler Award winner and continues to be one of the most popular creations to come from the Foose build team. "This one-of-a-kind vehicle built by Foose Design is always a crowd-pleaser and we're honored to be protecting it with a Covercraft car cover," said Mark Korros, president and CEO of Covercraft Industries. 2019 FORD RANGER Air Design USA debuted a 2019 Ford Ranger build at the 2018 SEMA Show that received Outstanding Achievement in Design recognition from Ford Motor Co. Modifications to the XLT 4x4 SuperCrew with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost I-4 engine and 10-speed electronic automatic transmission were designed to maintain the aggressive factory styling and be appealing to everyday truck owners, said Billy Longfellow, lead designer. The masculine exterior styling of the Ranger was further accentuated with a custom white and black paint by Sherwin- Williams, Borla cat-back exhaust with black chrome tips and differential cover, BDS suspension and upper control arms, FOX 2.5 Factory Series DSC coil-overs and 2.0 rear shocks, Nitto Ridge Grappler 33x12.50 tires, Fuel Vector 20 x 9 inch rims, Ford Performance off-road tow hooks and red recovery points, REV hard rolling tonneau cover, UnderCover Pivot Storage Box, Sundial window tint and Ford-licensed Air Design door rocker moldings, front bumper lower center bar with bumper flares, fender vents, hood scoop, rear cab spoiler, tailgate spoiler, and tailgate appliqué. Interior styling included custom black leather seats featuring white thread and a carpeted Sportliner by BedRug. Mick Jenkins, owner of Mick's Paint, has announced that Bob Florine's 1957 Ford Del Rio Ranch Wagon was named the 2018 Painless Performance Products Street Rod of the Year presented by Street Rodder magazine. The rare, two-door wagon was the subject of an extensive redesign by the team at Steve Strope's Pure Vision Design in Simi Valley, California. All the body modifications and paintwork—from the Thunderbird hood scoop through the stretched doors and trim to the tail fins—were performed at Mick's Paint in Pomona, California. Under the scooped hood resides a stack-injected 520-ci Boss Nine built by John Kasse Racing Engines. 2018 FORD F-150 Transfer Flow introduced its first project vehicle, The Compass, in the Ford Motor Co. booth at the 2018 SEMA Show. The 2018 Ford F-150 Power Stroke diesel, designed to be the ultimate family adventure vehicle, features the new Transfer Flow 50-gallon replacement fuel tank, a custom 40-gallon fuel tank and toolbox combination system, and all the creature comforts to make the journey as enjoyable as the destination and family memories that will last a lifetime.
