Star Awards Deemed First Official Cyber Safe Retailer in Wyoming Star Awards & Promos, a business based in Laramie, Wyoming, became the first cyber safe retailer in Wyoming after taking part in the 2018 Wyoming Cybersecurity Competition for Small Busi- nesses. The company provides promotional products, business gifts, and awards for sale in-store and online. Star Awards & Promos has been in business for over 25 years. When Shantel and Gustav Anderson purchased the shop in 2016, there was still a paper accounting system, a rotary engraver, and other older technologies. The shop purchased its first laser engraver in October. "We've really updated it to modernize," Shantel Anderson tells A&E. "We were fairly proactive when we first purchased the business in making sure that our systems were secure." Knowing friends that ran into issues and wanting to make sure customers are protected is what made the issue of cyber security important to the Andersons. "Anyone is subject to a breach and sometimes it's not even data that you think of," states Anderson. She goes on to explain that many people tend to think breached information is mostly credit card information, but it's also other pieces that most might not think about as needing to be secure, such as addresses and phone numbers. Mutoh America Expands Partnership with Johnson Plastics Plus Mutoh America Inc. announces an expanded partnership with Johnson Plastics Plus (JPPlus). JPPlus recently expanded its product line to include Mutoh's UV-LED printers, ink, and supplies. "This natural expansion into UV-LED print technologies for signage and personalization industries makes perfect business sense for us," says Steve Gluskin, JPPlus director of digital printing product development. According to Mutoh, UV-LED printers give sign shops, awards retailers, and those who do personalization an easier way to enter into the growing world of UV-LED printing. Nothers Signs and Recognition Celebrates 50 Years of Business Based in London, Ontario, Nothers Signs and Recognition celebrated 50 years of business while moving into a larger facility. Nothers sold its downtown London location and moved to East London, transitioning from 7,500 square feet to 15,000 square feet on two acres. The new location opened on May 11, 2018. The shop, which provides a slew of promotional products for the greater London area, holds recognition at its core. "We are with people at the best times of their lives," states owner Jim Nother. "We want to make sure it's a memorable moment for them." People, integrity, quality, and action are four values that Nothers operates by, but that wouldn't be the case if it weren't for Nother's father, Jim Sr. Back in 1968, with the help of his wife and kids, Jim Sr. started working on trophies, toys, and engraving out of their basement. It remained in the basement for the first few years before they rented their first retail store in London, Ontario. After a couple of years there, the family bought its first building in 1973. The family lived in the floors above the store, making for a unique childhood that would lead Nother to buy the business from his father in years to come.
