2 0 1 9 J U N E P R I N T W E A R 1 5 IN MOTION Folks typically like simplicity when it comes to apparel at the high school level, which was the case for this local soccer team. Lutheran High School (LHS) was looking for something clean but with a lit- tle flair. Certainly basic in its concept, we kicked it up a bit. (See what we did there?) To do so, we created some motion to the ball with the team name. The color palate for LHS is white, purple, silver, and black. They chose purple garments and wanted to keep costs reasonable with a two-color design. The soccer ball has distinct markings that immediately identifies the sport. It was modestly created with a little light and shadow for added volume and shape. At concept, the ball was more than two colors so most of that would be sacrificed. Using a grayscale composite of it in Photoshop through the Channels Palette with Mode set to CMYK, we used the channels that had the appropriate informa- tion to create the effect since we weren't going full color. This kept the final print soft and breathable as well. For the black we used the Magenta channel and using the Levels sliders from the outside in, we altered the densities accordingly. The white was a bit more chal- lenging since channels display in grayscale. © 2019 CIT Group Inc. All rights reserved. CIT and the CIT logo are registered trademarks of CIT Group Inc.
