This second demo Jeep features Alpine's 9-inch Weather Resistant In-Dash System for the JL model and a PSS-23WRA 300-Watt Sound System with a custom-built R-Series sound system in the tailgate. Authorized Alpine retailer Roco 4x4, based in Doral, Florida, also had a demo vehicle on display in Alpine's exhibit—the 2018 Sandstorm Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK that showcased Alpine's X209-WRA-OR and PSS-22WRA products. Both Alpine and Roco 4x4 staff were on- hand to give demonstrations and answer product questions. JL Audio showed its new Stealthbox sub- woofer systems and installation accessories for the fourth-generation Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited. These vehicle-specific sub- woofer solutions are available for driver and/or passenger sides and mount above the rear wheel wells, leaving the cargo area untouched. Installation accessories include ampli- fier-mounting plates that tuck under the front driver and passenger seats. They are compatible with a wide range of JL Audio amplifier models. "Subwoofers can be the single most signifi- cant improvement for a Jeep audio system," notes Manville Smith, VP of marketing for JL Audio. "Not only is there the added ben- efit of the subwoofer's superior bass perfor- mance, but with proper system design, the small front and rear speakers can be relieved from reproducing bass, resulting in much richer sound that is cleaner and louder." Typically, subwoofers take up a lot of room, and space is at a premium in the new Wranglers. "Stealthbox subwoofer systems solve this problem by integrating the subwoofer into the vehicle's infrastruc- ture, leaving a stealth, factory- equipped look," Smith says. "Using laser-scanning tech- nology and solid modeling software, JL Audio's development team designs each Stealthbox with precise fit and maximum enclosure volume to produce strong, deep bass output." The system includes a JL Audio thin-line TW1 10-inch subwoofer, is offered in 2 or 4 ohm and is housed in a sealed enclosure. THUMBS UP Jeep enthusiasts have been clam- oring for a pickup truck version for years—ever since the last Jeep Comanche left the factory floor back in 1992. So, it was no surprise that the new 2020 Jeep Gladiator was one of the hottest topics at the show. Mopar says it will introduce more than 200 new or redesigned Jeep Performance Parts and accessories at launch, including tonneau covers, a spray-in bedliner and performance content such as lift kits, off- road lights, rock rails and wheels. The aftermarket will be hot on its heels. And, if Jeep Beach taught us anything, it's that mobile electronics should be a major part of that mix. BRETT SOLOMON is a freelance writer based in New York City, specializing in the mobile electronics market. Local retailer Soundcrafters has found success being part of Jeep Beach, reporting sales and onsite installation of a week's worth of products in just two days. JL Audio demonstrated its new Stealthbox subwoofer systems and installation accessories for the fourth-generation Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited. The vehicle-specific subwoofer solutions are available for driver and/or passenger sides and mount above the rear wheel wells, leaving the cargo area untouched. S, SWAMPS & SS
