24 • RV PRO • July 2019 RV PRO: ALL IN THE FAMILY JULY SPECIAL SECTION D avid Eash has worked at Jayco for 35 years and is the national sales manager for the Jayco motorhome group. His son, Ryan, is director of product development for Jayco moto- rhome group and has been at Jayco for five years. Ryan got his start working summers in the parts department during high school. He also worked as an intern in the marketing department in college. Family has always been very important. The younger Eash says, "It's been unique, but certainly a ton of fun to be able to work alongside family. It's always been positive." David concurs. "Overall, it's been very positive. It has been fun to see the way that Ryan has grown in different roles and the ways he has worked. He started out in the parts warehouse and then in marketing and then the sales area and product develop- ment. From that standpoint, it's been fun to see his progression and the contribution that he makes to the team and company, even when we are in different departments." From Ryan's point of view, he had learned a lot from his father. "Experience comes with time. And to be able to have some- body that has had that close relationship with people for 35 years, not just at Jayco but in the industry, has been an extremely positive influence. To see the different relationships that have been built over the years and to have that knowledge that comes with time has been a huge resource to me." When Ryan first joined the company, David was happy, but offered this caveat, "First and foremost, I didn't want him to come work here just because this is where I worked. I wanted him to find a job, whether in the RV industry or outside of industry, that he truly loved, and he could thrive in. But I have seen him enjoy and thrive at what he does." As far as what they have learned from each other profession- ally, Ryan shares, "I think for me, growing up in the industry and then starting to work here and certainly over the time that we have worked together, even in separate departments, to me it's been the value of relationships and creating good relationships within this industry. Externally as it relates to our dealers but also internally." One of the unique things David has learned about Ryan is: "It's been neat to see how he will react and how will he do under certain situations. Then there's pressure, so it's been fun to see what he will do. I've learned a different side of him, if you will." One thing that both shared is the tag line of Jayco "Generations of family fun." "It is very family oriented. You look at the plants, you find it everywhere." DAVID AND RYAN EASH JAYCO
