The white areas had the most density and required detail with a combina- tion of hard edges and softly brushed areas to create shiny colorful characters. For the hair, we went to the Wacom tablet and pen and manually brushed in the strands of hair in the head and mustache. We added a light percentage on the highlight white to create an additional flash that would occur natu- rally on an object. The colors all looked flat in the file, but once printed with the base and the highlight, the tones came to life. Once seps were completed, we output on CTS at 55 lpi and 61 degrees. We ran the white printer on an N166 tpi screen stretched to 45 N/cm2 after a heated pre-iron in head one. A 65/90/65 triple durometer squeegee was used. We flashed to gel the ink and hit the print with the heated roller screen to matte down the fibers in the next head. This created a smooth surface for the ink to sit on. All the colors were run wet-on-wet on N272s at the same tension, using 75/90/75s in succession. Finally, the highlight white was done on an N205. The event happened the next weekend and was well attended by Team Graphic Elephants. The shirts looked great and we were happy for them to be a part of this event.
