In their still new roles as RV group managers, the two men now oversee multiple Thor subsidiaries as part of a change designed to provide additional support to U.S.-based divisions in meeting key strategic initiatives. Previously, Zimmerman, 44, was the CEO of Keystone RV, Thor's single-largest subsidiary, while Hermon, 49, was the president of Heartland RV, which is the fourth Thor subsidiary to record annual sales of at least $1 billion. "Matt and Chris are two of our top leaders. Their experi- ence and leadership make them ideally suited for these newly created roles," Thor Industries President Bob Martin said in announcing the promotions. Recently, RV PRO spoke at length with the two men in an exclusive interview at the company's headquarters in Elkhart to discuss how their promotions will impact the company's day-to-day operations, some of their immediate goals moving forward, and how Thor looks to navigate the cyclical nature of the RV industry. Their answers have been lightly edited for style and clarity. RV PRO: What was behind Thor's latest leadership change/promotions? Zimmerman: This move is a critical step in a very fast-paced and evolving industry. This includes our company, which looks drastically different than what it did just four years ago. Our focus has always been to be very accessible and quick to market. And when a company grows and expands the way Thor has, you have to start looking at your structure to make sure you can continue down that accelerated path. Dynamic Duo New Thor RV group leaders Chris Hermon and Matt Zimmerman share what their promotions mean for the company, some of their goals moving forward, and how they see Thor working to navigate the cyclical nature of the RV industry.
