"They wanted to hook up a printer like they had at home or play on their gaming consoles," Hogan says. "We real- ized we needed to build a router that was RV smart, easy to use and aware it could link to the Internet through a public Wi-Fi source." After eight years of developing Wi-Fi as a service across hundreds of North American RV parks, Hogan launched WiFiRanger in 2010 to focus on the consumer side of RV Wi-Fi. Today – through an exclusive distributorship with MITO Corp. – the Meridian, Ida- ho-based company has shipped more than 130,000 units to both RV manu- facturers and the aftermarket. A New, Upgraded WiFiRanger When WiFiRanger launched with its first router, the product was so new in the RV industry that few RVers knew they needed it, according to Hogan. "People didn't really see the value of it until probably three or four years in," he says. Originally, a majority of WiFiRanger products were installed on high-end RV units. But, as demand for data connec- tivity continues to grow, WiFiRanger has taken a Wi-Fi for all approach by devel- oping and delivering product offerings across multiple price points, able to reach all ages and stages of RVers. For data-hungry users, WiFiRanger recently introduced the SkyPro LTE The Meridian, Idaho-based company's products make sure RVers have the same speed and ease of connection that they enjoy with their home Wi-Fi networks. By Holli Koster V3, offering professional-grade connec- tivity at 450 Mbps and a 1.5-mile cap- ture range. With an updated processor and LTE modem, the unit is poised for faster data handling and speedier future connectivity offerings from cell carriers, such as long-range LTE, and emergency responder bands, according to Hogan.
