10 • November 2019 • S I G N & D I G I T A L G R A P H I C S ORAFOL Acquires U.S. Group of Graphic Companies ORAFOL Europe GmbH, the corporate headquarters of the global manufacturer of specialty tapes, films and adhesives, announces its acquisition of Lake Orion, Michigan-based Kay Automotive Graphics, which manufactures graphics for the automotive industry. The sale includes Kay's sister companies Kay Premium Marking Films, which has its manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and the U.K., and Kay Graphicas Automotrices in Mexico. According to ORAFOL, the combined portfolio of products will further strengthen its position in the solid-color wrap market while enhancing its presence in the OEM automotive market. "Kay's reputation as a provider of high-quality durable materials is undisputed and I'm excited to wel- come them into the ORAFOL group," says Dr. Holger Loclair, managing director of ORAFOL Europe GmbH. "Their production capacities and market expertise will result in increased efficiencies and know-how while expanding our market share." Joe Kay, owner of Kay Automotive Graphics, adds, "Along with our current and past employees, I have dedicated the last 50 years of my life to making our companies stand out and surpass others. I am extraordinarily pleased about this transaction and look forward to the successful integration of expertise and resources." Kay Automotive Graphics and their KPMF subsidiaries will continue to operate under their respective names as wholly-owned subsidiaries of ORAFOL International Inc. 3M Partners with Wrapmate to Bring Wrap Shops and Potential Customers Together St. Paul, Minnesota-based 3M announces a strategic collaboration with design website Wrapmate that will help bring potential vehicle wraps customers into contact with qualified wrap shops that can per- form the work. Wrapmate is an online platform that allows business owners to visualize their brand on a vehicle by simply using their business's website address. Wrapmate uses the business's URL to scan the site for branded visuals, such as logos and imagery, and within seconds, a vehicle wrap design is created. The service is meant to help business owners understand what a vehicle wrap would look like in a 3D environment to better understand the impact that vehicle graphics can have on the awareness of their business. Piedmont Plastics Acquires Two New England Plastics Companies Charlotte, North Carolina-based Piedmont Plastics, a wholesale distributor of plastic sheet, rod, tube and film stock shapes, announces its expansion in the New England marketplace with the acquisition of Mechanical Plastics Inc. and Plastic Supply Inc. The former is located in Agawam, Massachusetts and the latter in Londonderry, New Hampshire. These new locations mark the 46th and 47th distribution centers in North America for Piedmont Plastics, and there are four locations that serve New England and the Northeast U.S. All the employees from the two companies will be joining Piedmont Plastics, as will John Murphy, who owned them both. "We are extremely excited to have the Plastic Supply Inc. and Mechanical Plastics Inc. families join ours," says Tyler Booth, president of Piedmont Plastics. "The culture that John has created within and between his two companies will prove to be a fantastic fit and we look forward to building upon their internal capabilities and growing in two important geographies in New England."
