100 • RV PRO • November 2019 rv-pro.com K yle and Olivia Brady's lives are an open book – actually, they're a wide-open YouTube channel. On their Drivin' and Vibin' YouTube channel – which had racked up 57,600 subscribers as of October 2019, and its companion website – the married couple invites viewers and readers along on their journey as full-time RVers. For instance, the Bradys chronicled the year-and-a- half renovation of their 1979 Airstream Argosy, a project that they wrapped up in the summer of 2019. Searching for the Bradys on YouTube, viewers also might come across videos that show them installing and using Battle Born lithium-ion batteries, designed for RVs, boats and mobile power systems. Through a fairly loose arrangement with Battle Born, the Bradys share with the world their honest assessments of the RV batteries. In exchange, the Bradys receive the reviewed products at a discount, while Battle Born gains expo- sure from authentic (and social-media- savvy) consumers. But more valuable to the Bradys is the mutually beneficial relationship that they've forged with the brand; Battle Born looks at it through the same lens. What the Heck is a Brand Ambassador? Kyle and Olivia Brady are members of a small but growing band of brand ambassadors in the RV industry – real people, not actors – who promote an array of goods through vehicles such as YouTube videos, blog dispatches and Instagram posts. "Everything in terms of marketing and social media is heading toward more of an organic feel," Kyle Brady says, "and brand ambassadorship is one way to jump on it, and to harness social media in a way that doesn't feel like an advertisement." RV Brand Ambassadors Engage Consumers By John Egan B U S I N E S S Kelly Lund (right) and girlfriend Ally Croucke – along with Loki the Wolfdog (at left) – are popular personalities on Instagram. The couple and Loki also serve as brand ambassadors for Dometic, helping raise awareness for the company's products with their many followers. Dometic is one of several RV businesses that are using brand ambassadors as part of their larger marketing efforts.
