Orthwein Pavilion at the RV/MH Hall of Fame. Orthwein founded Thor Industries in 1980, along with Wade Thompson, who died several years ago. Orthwein still serves as chairman emeritus for the company. New RV Makers, Plenty of New Models As always, Open House Week provided opportunities for new RV manufacturers to get in front of RV dealers. One such notable RV maker was L'Air Camper, which was dis- playing a new ultralightweight fiberglass trailer at the RV Supplier and Vendor Expo, located at the Elkhart Municipal Airport, near Forest River's exhibit. The Ontario, Canada-based RV maker's camper features fiberglass and foam core construction and weighs in at slightly more than 2,000 pounds. The 15-foot, 5-inch camper with pop-top roof offers a roomy kitchen galley, sleeping space for four and a full bath with shower. It comes standard with lithium batteries, a Truma Combi heating system, a 3.7-cubic-foot refrigerator and LG Inverter microwave. L'Air President Jim Ashton said he was happy to show off the model to attendees visiting his exhibit next to the RVSE tent. The Hymermobil is one of the largest motorhomes available in Europe, according to an Erwin Hymer representative. Smaller roads restrict the size of vehicles on the continent. The three trailers that were on display were very basic. Two were reminiscent of Airstream designs and the third was similar to some • Only weighs 30 lb • 10 year warranty • No maintenance, no venting • Drop-in replacement • 2-3x the power in the same space Get out there, stay out there.
