In the fleece segments, joggers have brought life to the bottoms category and for women, have replaced the yoga pant as the go-to for style and comfort. Neutrals are a great palette for any decora- tor, and for 2020 there's an evolution into more pink-cast neutrals. Enhanced neutrals in browns and greens are emerging where the color is more muted and representative of natural dyes. The yellow trend shows no signs of slowing down in 2020. Mustard has been really big this year, and as we transition into 2020, the yellow spectrum will widen from lighter lemon sherbet to bright burnt yellow, tangerine, and saffron. In specialty techniques, there's a trend in tie-dye in more mellow-toned gradients and simpler two-color processes. This makes it easier for decorators to work with as the decora- tion no longer has to pop against multiple color backgrounds. One big color trend is the move of color into an era of gender- neutrality. Pink was the catalyst for many apparel designers to break the old rules on color. The men's department in some stores is now as colorful as the women's. Brands are skillfully using cotton-poly blended Ts to offer muted heather tones in pink, aqua, and mint that appeal to all ages and gen- ders. These heathers can be easier to deco- rate as the more muted, neutral background color can better complement the art. In the retail market, the influences of the '80s are still influencing retail apparel with retro- inspired prints and specialty techniques especially on garments with varsity detail- ing.
