I replied they were 12 years old and cost about $100 each back then and I had never done anything to them. He was amazed, as he was using $10,000 worth of Ohlins. "On his in-car video you could see my car wallowing in the corners. I came back to England and bought $600 worth of new shocks and springs and have recently gone 3 seconds quicker than before. That's racing and why I love racing in the USA—everybody is so friendly, yet competitive." The strength of the dollar and the weakness of the UK pound is making racing in the USA more expensive than ever. Still, there are competitors across the pond looking for ways to participate in the States. "What am I going to do?" asks Stilwell. "There are no salt flats in the UK." Stilwell got the salt bug in 2016 when he went to Bonneville for the first time.
