56 • RV PRO • March 2020 rv-pro.com Sprinter Chassis Readily Available for 2020 With delivery "challenges" on the model year 2019 Sprinter chassis behind the company, Mercedes-Benz expects to have an abundant supply of its new Model Year 2020 Sprinter vans available to RV OEMs this spring. All Sprinter chassis are built in Ludwigsfelde, Germany, a suburb of Berlin, then shipped to ports either in Baltimore, Md., or Charleston, S.C., where they are stored until shipped to the RV OEM. Unlike every other component that goes into an RV, OEMs are required to order their Sprinter chassis four to five months in advance of when they will be delivered. Royer Allman III, strategic account manager for Mercedes-Benz's Van Fleet-RV, tells RV PRO that Mercedes-Benz ended production of the 2019 chassis last December and began production of the 2020 chassis in January. There are no major changes, spec-wise, between the two model years, so chassis supply should be smoother this time around, he predicted during an early January interview. "We will be producing model 2020 and holding them at port until the start of sale, which is anticipated early in Q2," he says. He predicts there will be no shortage of Sprinter Class C chassis this year. – Steve Bibler Consumer demand for heated floors has never been higher.
