42 • RV PRO • April 2020 rv-pro.com Dometic has made major investments in recent years in its people, in its back-of- fice operations to make it easier for people to do business with the company, and in product development. Those investments are paying divi- dends, he added. "Building a world-class organization takes time," Nelson said, adding that it is an on-going effort. "We're going to continue to be an employer of choice; we're going to look for best people inside or outside of industry that we can bring to Dometic, because I think that's probably as important as anything we can do." Likewise, investments made in product development hold great potential. "Three years ago, we were making changes ... but it was iterative (frequent, repetitive) product changes. We are starting to develop products today that we're starting to launch that are game changers – they are transformational," he said, adding that Dometic expects that this year 41 percent of company's revenues will come from new products. Moving forward, Nelson said, Dometic won't simply be launching outdoor prod- ucts for the RV industry, but will be looking to expand its reach to include the much larger "outdoor space." The compa- ny's tagline, "Mobile Living Made Easy," applies to many markets, he noted. "New product launches, which is really at the end of the day is who we are, are getting ramped up. I think you are going to be excited to see the products we're launching in the coming year," he said. "It's driven by the voice of the customer." Meanwhile, moving forward, look for Dometic executives are pictured with members of key suppliers that provided financial support for the company's Dometic in the Desert event. Dometic officials say the event was the first of many they hope to host moving forward. Cast members of the Discovery Channel TV Show "The RVers" talk about their lives as full-time RVers and as people who use Dometic products.
