Years ago, the husband- and-wife publishing team of Truck Camper Magazine sold their house, furniture, and symbolic white picket fence for a home on four wheels that rests inside a pickup truck bed. This tiny home contains all they need to eat, live, rest and prosper. It also holds every- thing they need to push out the twice-a-week online pub- lication. For 13 years, the cou- ple's efforts have helped raise awareness of truck camping and provide a resource for truck campers everywhere. The couple started their journey in 2005, after the 9/11 attacks and the D.C. Sniper shootings. They sold their Washington, D.C., home before the housing bubble burst, giving them an unexpected windfall and the opportunity to fulfill a dream Gordon White had since high school – traveling the country in an RV. The couple researched their RV options and pur- chased a truck camper. They liked truck campers because they were small, nimble, and didn't need towing. In 2005, they spent six months touring the United States and Canada, which included exploring National Parks, vis- iting friends and family, and as Gordon says, "having the time of our lives." He adds, "We didn't just get hooked on truck camping. We fell totally and completely head over heels in love with it." Fast for ward 15 years. The couple is still living their dreams in a truck camper and working hard to legitimize a thriving portion of the RV market in an industry that sometimes overlooks it. RV PRO recently caught up with Gordon White to talk Q&A with TCM's Gordon White The founder of the Truck Camper Magazine shares why he started the online publication, why he is so passionate about truck campers and what more he thinks industry groups could be doing to promote the industry segment. By Ronnie Wendt Gordon and Angela White, the husband- and-wife publishing team behind Truck Camper Magazine, don't simply write about truck camper market – they live it. They traded their traditional home for one on four wheels resting on a truck bed when they launched their online publication 13 years ago.
