34 • RV PRO • May 2020 rv-pro.com What makes a top original equipment supplier? The volume of products manufactured? The number of cus- tomers served? The amount of OE content per vehicle? The amount of OE sales recorded? Those are all certainly yardsticks that could be used to measure a top OE supplier – or at least a large OE supplier. RV PRO recently spoke with select RV manufacturers to get their take on which companies they identify as top industry sup- pliers. The magazine then narrowed that list to select a few OE suppliers and interviewed representatives of those businesses (or in the case of Patrick Industries, obtained publicly available finan- cial statements and market data) to gain insights on how those companies gauge their performance in a competitive marketplace, their strategies for growing market share, and what they see as their unique attributes and strengths in terms of serving their RV manufacturer clients and RV end users. Read on to see what these top OE suppliers had to say about their operations, their products and their objectives moving forward. Interviews with leading OE suppliers reveal robust R&D investment, a strong focus on product innovation, prevalent brand recognition and strategic acquisitions are some common denominators among these companies.
