48 • RV PRO • May 2020 rv-pro.com Other successful Horizon Global products for the towing market include the Reese Goose Box and the Reese Pro Weight distribution system. With the Reese Pro Weight distribution system, Horizon Global offers a complete system out of the box with a pre-torqued ball (unlike some competing products), the deepest drop shank that is available in the marketplace and it comes with three different weight ratings: 6,000 pounds, 8,000 pounds and 11,500 pounds. Notably, the Reese Pro Weight offers no drill application, in contrast to some earlier units, Brzezinski says. Meanwhile, the Reese Goose Box is a pin box system allows customers to tow a fifth wheel trailer using a gooseneck ball in the back of a pickup, which Brzezinski says is the latest trend in RV towing. Customers are seeing the advantages as it removes the traditional heavy fifth wheel towing system from the back of a pickup, improves ride performance and frees up space, which customers with short-bed pickups in particular appreciate. With all of these products, Horizon Global has leveraged its expertise and its many years of experience in the market in order to meet the demands of today's customers, according to Brzezinski. "We have a legacy of delivering market- leading products and we've been doing this a long time and continually evaluating what our products are, and what they deliver. Over the years, we've accumulated a wealth of knowledge, both internally and externally from the field, then incorporate that knowledge and feedback into our new line of products," he says. Communication, Messaging Matters Communication is a two-way street at Horizon Global, according to Patrick Sorensen, the company's marketing com- munications manager. While the focus of his job is getting information out – what he calls "everything forward-facing" – there are also plenty of opportunities for the OEs, dealers and service providers to get their voices heard. A lot of it is just ongoing conversa- tions between customers and the Horizon Global team. "We have an outstanding sales team, with decades of experience," he says. "The majority are not only salespeople – they're also product experts. They know their products and they know their customers, through customer visits, field work, trade shows and the like. Information flows back to our office, where a lot of times it creates discussions about product improvements, and possibly innovative products that we should be investigating. At the same time, Sorensen's marketing team is focused on getting the informa- tion people need back out through that and other channels. That includes liter- ature, trade show materials, the compa- ny's numerous websites and social media, which flows through the salespeople, but ultimately to the supplier's customers and end users. While having that stable of long- standing and trusted brands makes his job easier, Sorensen says one of Horizon Global's marketing goals is to create infor- mative, clear and consistent messaging among all its brands and products. And, that extends to the services the company offers its customers. "Our goal is to assist and support our customers, to create success," Sorensen says. "We have an in-house graphics department, and a full video team, we have a lot of experience with planogram management and how to successfully mer- chandise. We also do in-house package design, both from the graphics and the actual packaging to make sure the prod- ucts arrive to customers and the end user in good condition." Video and social media are both becoming increasingly important to Horizon Global, he says. "Enhanced training videos is a top priority for the marketing group and for the entire organization," Sorensen says. "We're working on expanding our video library and e-learning. Training is a major initiative for the company in 2020, and we're looking to continue the expansion of material and accessibility." Video also plays a part in the trade W H Y N O T Meyer?
