The first step is to prepare the backing and fabric together and determine the place- ment on the garment. Then, place the backside (bot- tom) of the hoop on a flat surface, ensuring that the tension is loose enough for the textile to fit between the frame pieces. Lay the fabric pieces on top of the back of the hoop with the proper placement. Position the top (inner part) of the hoop on top of the fabric and press it into place so the material and backing are sand- wiched in between the top and bottom pieces of the hoop. Once secure, tighten the tension screw to hold the frame and textiles together. Easy, right? If we only lived in a perfect world. Hooping is a crucial part of the embroi- dery process.
