People from all over—California, Florida—have bought their shirts. People know them!" As for actual sales, they typically only needed to send a pre-made store to the business owners. The businesses immediately under- stood the concept. "When you explain to people how it works, how you're going to pay them out, and how you'll help them... people are 100% on-board," Quigley and Thou say. But was it hard? "I hadn't touched web stuff in over a decade," Quigley states. So far, they've had success, giving more than $20,000 back to their local community. "The more stores there are, the more people buy. Then people come back and see that we've added more stores, and they buy more shirts. It's a commu- nity thing now." AND INDUSTRY THAT STEPPED UP The platform Printavo built so print shops could sell T-shirts and other merchandise has become something powerful, but we can't take credit for this remarkable pivot across the industry. These are dire times, and this industry has stepped up. Instead of giving up, print shops have rallied by leveraging eCommerce. They're using it to fundraise for restaurants, gyms, barbers and salons, cafés, breweries, and dozens of oth- er businesses forced to shut down during this crisis... and keep their doors open. Yes, you can use online stores just to generate some cash right now, but the real value is in the long term; you've be- come a lifeline to your community during a pivotal moment. Hopefully these success stories inspire you to do something creative. If you aren't already utilizing an online platform, now is a great time to start. Whether it's to drive sales, fund- raise, or both, it's worth looking into. GP BRUCE ACKERMAN is the founder of Printavo, provider of shop management software for printing companies. After running a screen-printing shop in college, he knew there had to be an easier way to manage their workflow. Printavo is now used worldwide to help printing companies keep track of their order, and grow their businesses.
