When figuring out pricing, remember it needs to reflect the quality and time involved in your craftmanship, even more than the actual cost of the substrate. If you don't value your time, effort, and skill, why would someone else? If you aren't making a profit, then it becomes a charity. Research, once again, helps figure your pricing. It is good to research how estab- lished competitors value their products, which can give you a price range for your targeted customer base. PERSONALIZATION Speaking of value, let's talk about person- alization. The value is in the eye of the be- holder; once you personalize something, the value dramatically increases to the buy- er. There should always be an upcharge for personalizing a product. Personalization sells itself, as it becomes a cherished keep- sake to the one who receives it. Several vendors offer Unisub sublima- tion jewelry, as well as other types of jew- elry like the example on page 22 from Condé Systems. Feel free to check out other vendors, such as Johnson Plastics Plus, Coastal Business Supplies, and Subli- mation101 to name a few. IN CONCLUSION Whatever sublimation market you decide to go into, start with a few items to show- case and then add to your offerings as you grow. Remember, you could offer just one item and show it done in many different ways—that is the beauty with sublimation. It can also allow for a better shopping expe- rience for your customers when they aren't overwhelmed with so many choices.
