rv-pro.com October 2020 • RV PRO • 11 Offering More Options Still, there are some positives, including the fact that LTV's new lineup is proving more attractive this year. For the first time in company history, buyers have a choice between a diesel engine in the Sprinter 3500-based Unity or a gas one in the Transit 350- based Wonder, introduced in 2016. Ford has largely switched over from its diesel Transit chassis – found under the first-generation Wonder – to its popular 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost, a twin-turbo model producing 310 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. There's even an all-wheel drive option. "We did have a big demand for a gas chassis, so when Ford switched over to the gas engine, we were pretty excited because it would make some of our customers happier," Corrigal says. "I've driven that new gas engine. I've never been in a chassis with that type of power before. It has the most power I've ever felt in a small motorhome." Another improvement that can't be seen in the new Wonder – available in four floorplans and starting at under $120,000 – is an increase in its gross vehicle weight rating to 11,000 pounds. It may seem like a small change from the previous rating of 10,360 pounds, Corrigal says, but one that will allow more floorplan options. That will no doubt go over well with LTV fans, if the May debut of the Wonder RL is any indication. Launched on Facebook Live, Corrigal had 10 or 15 canned questions in case nobody watched. However, they weren't necessary, he says, as more than Leisure Travel Vans has prospered in recent years by staking out a place for itself in the competitive Sprinter van market. The company's leadership includes (left to right) Terry Elias, president and CEO; Ryan Elias, vice president and general manager; and Phil Ens, chairman.
