54 THE SHOP NOVEMBER 2020 T rade show cancelations haven't slowed the work or creativity of special project and limited-edition vehicle builders, who won't let a little something like a global pan- demic get them down. Even with 2020 being the year that many events took a break, there's still a lot to learn from these special automobiles that showcase the talent, dedication and innova- tion that drive our industry through thick and thin. It may be a while until crowds can gather around these amazing cars, trucks and SUVs, but we can still enjoy a two-dimen- sional tour through some of the best the market has to offer. Maybe one will spark an idea for your next standout creation. The builds must go on. 2020 PROJECT VEHICLE SKETCHBOOK 54 THE SHOP NOVEMBER 2020 The 2020 Kia Stinger GT-C is the first-ever convertible concept to debut for the popular sports car platform. The initial concept is being developed by Motor Vehicle Perfor- mance exclusively for City Kia in Orlando and will debut this fall/winter 2020. Joe Manno, director of motorsports, is leading the project and has enlisted key industry players, such as Drop Top Cus- toms and designer Aaron Vaccar to help bring the build to life. The launch edition of the vehicle will fea- ture an exterior restyling package that includes a multi-piece body kit with carbon fiber accents and 20-inch wheels. It will also boast performance enhancements such as a tuned intake and exhaust and lowered suspension. Variations of the droptop GT-C will be available for purchase and special order, which can include parts packages from popular aftermarket manufacturers. 2020 Kia Stinger GT-C
