64 THE SHOP NOVEMBER 2020 2020 PROJECT VEHICLE SKETCHBOOK Old School Edition rimaster ICON 4x4 unveils its first Old School Edition Thriftmaster completely bespoke, fully customized 1950s-era truck offering. The company's Old School editions are restored trucks imbued with the best of modern performance and engineering, all with a distinctively retro look. "This is the very first of our Old School Thriftmaster builds, so we had the opportunity to completely redesign the visual elements as well as the chassis for a much smoother, really enjoyable ride that also creates a wholly different personality," says Jonathan Ward, ICON 4x4 lead designer and founder. "Originally, this was a farm truck, so working with the client to restore a workhorse like this was such a fun, rewarding process." Thriftmaster includes an emissions-certified LS3 V-8 engine producing 430 hp mated to a 4L85E automatic transmission. Highlights include a light vintage green, two-tone paint job; original vanilla-hue Thriftmaster dashboard; Saint Francis badge located in the rear of the interior cabin; custom leather; ICON Brembo brakes; African teak bed with stainless rails and custom removable cargo hold-down pins; Bluetooth-dependent audio system; A/C unit; and more. 1972 Chevrolet C10 Kyle Donaldson from J5 Speedshop in Richmond, Illinois, sends information on a 1972 Chevrolet C10 project, paired with a 1974 Honda CB550.
