Direct-to-Substrate S T A R T H E R E 2 0 2 0 Roll-To-Roll Printing PRINTING MAGIC Zoch says that in 2019, Kornit released the Presto system for roll-to- roll, direct-to-fabric printing, capable of decorating a wide array of substrates with a single system. Including Presto and Presto S configurations, the machine is said to be up to three times faster than the company's prior Allegro system, for lower cost of ownership. "This includes a smaller production footprint, higher productivity per operator, and the company's signature single-step print process, which essen- tially eliminates demand setup and pre- and post-treatment time. Capable of high output at the push of a button, Kornit Presto is an ideal cornerstone of any consolidated micro factory produc- tion operation," Zoch explains. He adds that complementing this new system is Kornit's new NeoPigment Robusto ink set, delivering superior wash, light, and rub fastness, as well as precise Pantone color matching. "Eco-Passport Certified and GOTS-approved, these inks meet the highest industry sustainability standards, nontoxic and safe for use with baby and child apparel and accessories. Robusto was named a 2019 SGIA Product of the Year (Digital Inks – Textile (wide- format greater than 36 inches)." Most recently, Kornit released the Robusto Softener solution, which inte- grates into Kornit's unique single-step process to yield the softest hand feel ever achieved from a digital pigment-based solution, extending digital capabilities for brilliant design, efficient production, and sustainability to even the most demand- ing of high-end fashion houses. The Presto can print on a wide variety of fabrics, including synthetics, naturals and blends. (Image courtesy of Kornit Digital) (Image courtesy of Kornit Digital) 40
