Once you pinpoint a few of those things, then look at the potential unintend- ed consequences of removing that expense. I have found the best way to do this is to make sure you have an investment mindset when looking at your expenses, not just a credit and debit mindset. When you have a credit and debit mind- set, you only look at the micro of how much you spent and where you can cut. When you have an investment mindset, you look at the macro and determine if that expense can actually make you more money in the long run because it saves you time, increases your efficiency, or reduces waste. I'll use my business as an example here. We help small businesses with training and tools to help them run their business. You can look at the cost of this monthly and say to yourself, I can cut that and reduce my monthly expenses. That is the credit/ debit mindset. But what if the tools and training you get can potentially set you up for greater success, reduce your waste, and give you more efficiency and profit? This is a more beneficial monthly cost for you to keep making the payment as it is an invest- ment mindset. On the flip side of that, if the programs are just to hang out, not really have a plan, get talked down to, or you feel like you just have to do it because everyone else is do- ing it, then this might be a program to cut. How you look at it is important. Can you see the value of the expense from a bigger picture view? Congratulations on getting to the end of 2020. I hope that you use these last few weeks of the year to celebrate your successes and to also step back from your business for a few moments and look at the bigger picture.
