26 • RV PRO • February 2021 rv-pro.com T errell Camping Center in 2020 celebrated a historic milestone – 50 years as a Jayco dealer. The North Carolina RV retailer is just one of just three dealerships in the country to be recognized by Jayco as a five-decade partner. Dealership General Manager Carroll Lineberger Jr. says there is a simple reason the business has stayed loyal to the Middlebury, Ind.-based RV manufacturer for so long. "Their beliefs. The way they treat you as a dealer. You're a person more than a number to them," he says of Jayco, adding, "For so long, Jayco was the company everyone wanted to sell, and salespeople wanted to work for." Terrell Camping Center's roots pre-date its partnership with the RV maker by several years. In the early 1960s, the business sold Cox fold-down campers, a brand it retailed until 1975, when Cox dropped fold-down campers from its product line. Looking back on the decision by his father, Carroll Lineberger Sr., to start retailing Jayco products at the family-owned dealership in 1970, Lineberger Jr. says, "Dad was in on the ground floor (as a Jayco dealership). … We just carried Jayco and Cox at the time. A 50-year partnership with Jayco has proven beneficial for Terrell Camping Center, which is now in its third generation of family ownership.
