30 • RV PRO • June 2021 rv-pro.com trol of numerous features from a personal device at close range," Sammut said. "The items that can be controlled by this app are many of the same functions available on the Silverleaf panel inside the coach. This new app is available for both Apple and Android devices, and is also available on the 2022 Mountain Aire, London Aire and Supreme Aire." A new "first" introduced on the 2022 New Aire are larger windows in the slide room and end walls. These windows are not only larger, but meet at a structural post in the corner of the slide box, making it appear to be one large panoramic window wrapping around the ends of the slide room. In the 2022 Supreme Aire 4577 model, bunk beds at the rear of the coach have been replaced with a more traditional bunk bed layout, called the 4590. Meanwhile, the new 4590 floorplan is a full-wall slide bath-and-a- half model with two bunk beds located mid- coach on the off-door side. Two brands – the Ventana and London Aire – include a floorplan that includes a work- station with enough room for a laptop and printer. Sammut said that with the workforce becoming increasingly mobile due to the pan- demic and technology, there was consumer interest in having a workspace aboard a coach. Bon Voyage to Two Newmar Veterans Jay Kinney has acted as director of sales for Newmar since 2012. Sammut credits Kinney for helping rebuild the Newmar dealer net- work coming out of the Great Recession. Sammut said, "Many of you here today joined Newmar because of a phone call or personal visit from Jay." Kinney is planning to retire early in 2022. Michelle Kemp, who has served as sales man- ager over the past year, was promoted and will take on Kinney's position as sales director. Dave Garl, who started with the com- pany in 1974, has retired as well. Matt Miller remarked to the audience, "Dave, I don't want to make you sound old, but I was 4 years old when you started with Newmar." From Combat Veteran to Keynote Speaker Sal Giunta served in the U.S. Army in Afghanistan. On Oct. 25, 2007, his unit was ambushed by 10 to 15 Taliban insurgents from roughly 10 meters away. For his heroic actions during that battle, he became the first living Medal of Honor recipient since the Vietnam War. He spoke to Newmar dealers and staff about what he learned during his time of service. His message of teamwork, selflessness, and leader- ship transferred well to the business world. Newmar's 2022 London Aire and Ventana include a floor- plan with designated workstation. The 2022 Supreme Aire 4557 model features a more traditional bunk bed layout. Michelle Kemp Sal Guinta
