82 THE SHOP OCTOBER 2021 ship to work both ways. "Sign up on our dealer portal and stock up on inventory," suggests KC's Wimenta. "We plan to have a big marketing push come this holiday season, and our con- sumers always ask for shops to recom- mend." Carrying quality components will earn repeat customers while advancing the entire market. "Educate the customer on the benefits of a quality light bar versus a cheap knockoff," says Nelson of Vision X. "The market is flooded with low-quality LED light bars and a lack of information on what makes a quality one worth the investment." Yessa of ARIES highlights the company's grade-A chip construction and IP68-stan- dard breather as examples. "This isn't true of every light bar, and a shop owner or customer might not rec- ognize the quality at a glance," she says. "The grade-A chips mean a long-lasting, more reliable light, and the IP68 breather translates to better waterproof and dust- proof ratings—all backed with competitive pricing." Showing you don't need asphalt to put on a great show, the legendary SCORE Baja 1000 was voted the No. 3 motorsports event in North America this summer by readers of USA Today. Finishing only behind the Indianapolis 500 and the 12 Hours of Sebring sports car race, the Baja 1000 was recognized for its "history, legacy and impact in the motorsports world," according to Jim Ryan, SCORE marketing and sales director. No. 4 on the list was the Petit Le Mans, followed by the King of the Hammers in fifth. "The SCORE Baja 1000 continues to draw interest from all over the world, and we now find second-, third- and even fourth-generation racers appearing at the starting line with their family patriarchs cheering for their offspring," Ryan noted. In both 2016 and 2017, USA Today readers voted the SCORE Baja 1000 as the No. 1 motorsports event in the world. The 2021 event will be held Nov. 15-20. "This event continues to be the focal point of the SCORE World Desert Cham- pionship each year, and the celebration of our 54th anniversary will surely add another colorful chapter to the lasting legacy of the SCORE Baja 1000—espe- cially being a Baja California peninsula run this year from Ensenada to La Paz," Ryan said. Rounding out the top 10 on the 2021 North American list from USA Today were the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas; Vegas to Reno; Bristol Dirt Race; the Daytona 500; and the Mint 400.
