It was allowed to soak in a day or two. Many .125" thick aluminum parts were waterjet cut, but many were tabbed together to keep them from dropping to the bottom of the tank and being lost. A nut was welded on one end of each rod, and a nut on the other end would be tightened to clamp board joints permanently and prevent warping. The nuts on each rod were well recessed.
