It's the first of its kind, communi- cating seamlessly with the Wrangler's CAN-Bus system to totally reshape the listening experience whatever the vehicle's configuration. (RTA): How did the market within your segment perform in 2014? KEVIN CAMPBELL (KC): Very well. Sales through our aftermarket distribu- tion have increased dramatically over the last year. (RTA): How do you expect your market segment will perform in 2015? (KC): We expect to see continued growth, and we anticipate continuing the 2014 trend. (RTA): Are there any particular trends or changes that will affect your market seg- ment in 2015? (KC): The dash is becoming more and more integrated with other systems in the car, making adding aftermarket audio more of a challenge. We expect this to continue, so we plan to continue developing prod- ucts that can adapt to the new reality. (RTA): What are some challenges re- stylers within your market segment face in 2015? (KC): Consumer awareness—describing sound is a difficult thing to accomplish. Our goals are to keep educating our re- tailers and to continue making consumers aware of the KICKER brand and the value our products add to the driving experience. (RTA): What are some ways restylers within your market segment can boost business this year? (KC): Create more consumer awareness of the products they have to sell and the value they bring to the customer. So many times retailers overlook the little things they do day-to-day that add value to our ever-changing customer base. Things like cleaning up their parking lot, keeping a neat and tidy installation bay, and cleaning the bathroom. And, when you can, dem- onstrate, demonstrate, demonstrate. (RTA): What products are important for our readers to stock in 2015? (KC): Our 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra products have been very popular, as these consumers are looking to differentiate themselves and their ve- hicles from their friends and co-workers. Adding the KICKER VSS (Vehicle-Spe- cific Solutions) PowerStage system to their trucks can do just that. We're also excited about the new F-150 hitting the market, and we expect to have product ready to ship by spring 2015. (RTA): How did the market within your segment perform in 2014? BOB TYLER (BT): The market seg- ment performed outstanding this year, given truck sales are up and the increased awareness of the liner product category. (RTA): How do you expect your market segment will perform in 2015? (BT): With the overall economy being strong, we expect the market segment to continue to grow. (RTA): Are there any particular trends or changes that will affect your market seg- ment in 2015? (BT): Truck and SUV sales tend to fol- low the economy given more tradesmen and consumers are in the market to pur- chase vehicles. This often bodes well for vehicle protection products as consumers are looking to protect their investments. (RTA): What are some challenges restylers within your market segment face in 2015? (BT): As has been the trend over the past years, retailers in the truck accessory cat- egory are faced with two very difficult challenges. First, consumers are getting smarter and smarter when it comes to uti- lizing the Internet for product research, installation education and price savvy shopping tools, such as comparison- shopping sites.
