"There's been a lot of consolida- tion in the industry over the last few years," Williams said. "There's really only two bedliner manufac- turers in the U.S. and five or six worldwide, but we're the largest and we're proud of that." PendaForm supplies the box for the Ram 6-1/2-foot box truck. "We do the box and the lid and put on all the hinges and latches down in Mexico," Williams said. "That's also where we make a lot of the bunks for Freightliner trucks. The facility in Bluffton, Ind., makes materials handling stuff. We are also making wheel liners for Chrysler for the inside wheel wells of Dodge pickup trucks." Williams stressed that truck sales are important to PendaForm and he said that sales have improved significantly over the past few years. "They are not anywhere close to the peak years of 2004 and 2005," he said. "But they have steadily come back from the low numbers of 2008 and 2009." Williams said that building and home construction have been on the rise. "Builders need pickup trucks to do their jobs, so things have defi- nitely been positive," he added. "We work with the OEMs to make sure our future bedliner designs integrate with different trends they've got coming," Wil- liams noted. "GM has the new Silverado with some tie-downs in the bed, so we accommodated that in our designs. Ford has the new aluminum F-150, so we made sure that our bedliner works with its new functionalities." Williams said he thinks Penda- Form has a bright future. "The acquisition of Fabri-Form added some additional capabilities and the products we showed at the SEMA Show definitely pointed us in the right direction," he said. "The acquisition also added addi- tional distribution and manufac- turing capabilities. We've been do- ing some Jeep products and we're working on a way to improve the Jeep Wrangler hardtop. So, the fu- ture looks bright." Then, Williams looked up at us and said, "Let's finish installing a bedliner." We weren't going to argue with him. After all, it isn't everyday that you have your bedliner installation done by the vice president of a big company. It sure beats driving home with a bedliner sticking out of your truck. e tie-down access holes will be covered with removable plastic discs. 32 Restyling & tRuck AccessoRies | FEBRUARY 2015
