34 n Performance & Hotrod Business n May 2015 PERFORMANCE The true mechanical linkage to syn- chronize roll speeds makes SuperFlow's AWD chassis dynos safe for all types of drivetrains and saves the operator the has- sle of having to disable traction control sys- tems just to tune the vehicle. Automated tests and manual control modes to torque, percentage of load, miles per hour and engine speed allow for easy mapping and, of course, the tried-and-true inertia tests are all features included with every SuperFlow chassis dyno. The all-wheel drive dynos have load cells on the front and rear roll sets and can measure torque contribution of each axle, not just total torque. Dynamometers are a must-have tool for serious performance & engine shops because … … engine and chassis dynos provide the shop with a tool to justify the value of their work and to quickly test their own R&D efforts on new engine combinations. A tuning shop or engine builder without a dyno has no way to quantify the improve- ment made for the customer. Dynamometers also save shops time, as most every customer these days requires a dyno sheet for an engine or modification to a vehicle, so if they don't have a dyno they must take the engine or vehicle to a shop with a dyno, which takes time and costs money. Technology is affecting the dynamom- eter market by … … making linked all-wheel drive chas- sis dynos a requirement for any serious tuning shop and requiring us to develop larger-capacity dynos to keep up with the power and torque requirements of our cur- rent vehicles and high-performance racing engines. For example, we developed the SF- Black Widow engine dyno as a solution for extreme engine builders like Pro Mod and other twin-turbo, nitrous and blown alcohol drag racing and pulling applica- tions. The SF-Black Widow is the only engine dyno capable of testing these types of engines. Dynamometers also save shops time, as most every customer these days requires a dyno sheet for an engine or modification to a vehicle.
