This is a good thing, making quick work of what otherwise would be a tedious nightmare. For instance, you could have a jumble of overlapping objects and drag the Crop tool within that mess, creating a rectangle with bits and pieces spilling out along the edges, and—zap!—all those bits and pieces disap- pear, leaving the remainder neatly in place within the rectangle. For this to happen, individual shapes would have to have been cut, changing them from closed to open shapes. Not the case! Instead, previously closed shapes are not left open but auto- matically closed (healed) by connecting the endpoints.
