A&E APRIL 2018 • 43 We are seeing quite a number of busi- nesses that engage in heat transfer vinyl decoration include sublimation in their production process when using glitter transfers. A white glitter transfer can be pressed onto a cotton shirt of any color, though dark tends to work best. Then you can prepare a sublimated transfer that you press onto the shirt over the glitter transfer. The result is sparkly digital coloration. While the products you use here are not new, the process is for many who have both HTV and sublimation capabilities. Finally, outdoor sublimation has made it to market thanks to new metal substrates from Decoral. The Duraluxe outdoor photo panels have a five-year fade resistance war- ranty for sublimated images. In addition to this, they are designed to stand up to the rigors of being in an outdoor environ- ment thanks to built-in chemical, graffiti, and external damage resistance. Johnson Plastics Plus also offers its own outdoor photo panels, called Color Tuff EXT. Now is an exciting time to be a subli- mator. As these new innovations continue to evolve, so will the creativity and business opportunities. If you're already into the sublimation trade, think about trying out some of these new products and decorating techniques. If you're thinking about getting into sublimation, make sure to do your homework and hit a trade show or two to get some hands-on experience with all of these great products. Chances are, you'll fall in love. For those interested, wide-format sublimation options are a great way to expand your offerings. Ink colors have recently been expanded to include fluorescent options. A&E
